 9LoLMM is more than your standard song-and-dance stage show. This musical dramatization of Maud's life is presented in a seamless sequence of vignettes in which every word, sung or spoken, is designed to advance the story. The most important people in Maud's life are all here, but so are her fictional characters, who materialize to amuse and enlighten. Leo's multi-period music not only accompanies lyrics, but is featured as underscore to give everything a more cinematic feel. And, best of all, the show utilizes a state-of-the-art screen that will serve as a backdrop so Maud and her brood can be shown both indoors and in her beloved nature. Only a multimedia experience such as this could encapsulate the power of Lucy Maud Montgomery's imagination! Maud herself once said "biography is a screaming farce". So a full year of meticulous research was conducted before the first word or note was ever written. All of Maud's novels, her journals, interviews with respected LMM scholars and descendants - no stone was left unturned. Upon receiving the approval of the Heirs of L.M. Montgomery, AMJ and Leo got to work creating this stunning and substantial musical. So far they have been praised for their accuracy, their eye (and ear!) for detail, and the show has been lauded for its historical importance - for Canada and literature! The Nine Lives of L.M. Montgomery had its world premiere at Kings Playhouse in Georgetown, Prince Edward Island on 20 June 2008 - the exact 100th anniversary of the publication of LMM's signature work, Anne of Green Gables!
